Assessing the FAIR Digital Object Framework for Global Biodiversity Research

چکیده
In the first decades of 21 st century, there has been a global trend towards digitisation and mobilisation data from natural history museums research institutions. The development national international aggregator systems, which focused on standards, made it possible to access millions museum specimen records. These records serve as an empirical foundation for across various fields. addition, community efforts have expanded concept collection specimens include physical preparations digital resources, resulting in Digital Extended Specimen (DES), also includes derived related data. Within this context, paper proposes using FAIR Object (FDO) framework accelerate vision DES, arguing that FDO-enabled infrastructures can reduce barriers discovery specimens, help ensure credit back contributors increase amount incorporates biodiversity

A Framework for Digital Object Self-Preservation
The author presents a plan to design, simulate, create, field and test an infrastructure that supports long term preservation of digital data based on the idea that the digital data should have an active role in its own preservation. The infrastructure traces its roots the the Kahn-Wilensky Framework for digital services. The infrastructural links between the digital data create a small world g...
متن کاملAssessing the Cost of Global Biodiversity and Conservation Knowledge
Knowledge products comprise assessments of authoritative information supported by standards, governance, quality control, data, tools, and capacity building mechanisms. Considerable resources are dedicated to developing and maintaining knowledge products for biodiversity conservation, and they are widely used to inform policy and advise decision makers and practitioners. However, the financial ...
متن کاملA Framework for Assessing the Global Diffusion of the Internet
This paper presents a comprehensive framework for describing the diffusion of the Internet in a country. It incorporates insights gained from in-depth studies of about 25 countries undertaken since 1997. The framework characterizes diffusion using six dimensions, defining them in detail, and examines how the six dimensions relate to underlying bodies of theory from the national systems of innov...

Although interactions between populations rapidly achieve equilibrium and lim...
متن کاملAssessing and monitoring forest biodiversity: A suggested framework and indicators
Enlightened forest management requires reliable information on the status and condition of each forest ± interpreted from a broad context ± and of change in forest conditions over time. The process of forest planning must begin with a clear statement of goals, from which detailed objectives and management plans follow. Goals and objectives for forest management should re ̄ect the conservation va...
